Bring your family to Edge City India

Edge City has always been multigenerational, and our popup villages are built for families as much as for founders. At Edge City India, running October 11 to November 1 in Mandrem, Goa, kids are full citizens of the village, with their own spaces, expert facilitation, and dedicated programming through Edge Tomorrow, our intergenerational creative hub. We ran the first edition at Edge Esmeralda this summer, where 32 kids spent four weeks building alongside the community.

Here is everything your family needs to know to join us for our next edition in Goa.

Beyond this, there are stimulating easy ways to get involved creatively if you want more intergenerational fun.

• Family housing clusters together, and the Edge Tomorrow hub, the family cluster, and the main Edge City program space all sit within an easy, safe walk of one another, so kids feel embedded in the village and parents join their own programming without stress or logistics.

We’ve done this before

Just a couple of months ago in Healdsburg, 22 families came to let their kids build the future. Thirty-two kids spent four weeks as full citizens of Edge Esmeralda 2026, embedded in the community. They marketed their businesses in the coworking space, gave tours of their sprawling cardboard metropolis of 66+ buildings, and built two giant sculptures using a mathematical material used by Nobel Prize winners.

One Esmeralda parent put it this way.

“Both of my kids got a chance to be their best selves. Just as importantly, they got to connect to the fabric of the community rather than simply show up, do something with some other kids, and leave at the end of the day. That distinction matters more than I think most programs realize.”

What your kids will be getting up to

Each week at Edge Tomorrow follows an arc. Monday opens with discovery and exploration, Tuesday brings experiments and project definition, Wednesday and Thursday are for building, and Friday closes with final touches, a showcase for the village, and a retro. Every day mixes structured sessions with open play, and the balance always leans toward child agency.

The projects themselves are decided by the children. Past groups have built a pop-up museum, a street party, a pop-up café, a cardboard clubhouse, a mini escape room, a walking labyrinth, and a stop-motion animated film. Open-ended, locally sourced materials are curated so kids can take what’s in their mind and make it real, and the approach draws on Reggio Emilia, Montessori, and the agile learning model, held by facilitators who treat children as capable people.

And then there’s Goa itself, an unusually child-centric and creative place. We’re already connecting with extraordinary local creatives to root the experience in the place your kids will be living, and the beach is minutes away for sand creations, volleyball, and football, the kind of play that pulls every age in.

The Family Village: an intentional family neighbourhood

For families who want to go deeper, the Family Village Residency starts with living together. Family housing clusters within walking distance of the intergenerational hub, so kids find each other without a plan, parents are neighbours rather than acquaintances who met at a session, and the daily puzzles of coverage, timing, and getting places get solved together instead of separately.

Edge City moves fast, and for families there’s an added layer, integrating everything you’re each encountering in ways that connect you rather than spread you thin. Finding a rhythm that works is ultimately each family’s own to discover, but you don’t have to do it alone or from scratch.

The residency is led by Edge Esmeralda parents Keri and Jonathan Shinn, who have worldschooled their four kids for a decade, and Keri also serves as family liaison to Edge Tomorrow, so there’s one warm point of contact holding the thread between the kids’ program and family life.

The Shinns meet parents without judgment, wherever you are with intentional parenting and family culture, and go deeper into relational mastery and each family’s own expression of it. Expect moments of reflection, practical tools for processing the experience together, and lightly facilitated dialogue among parents, and because the culture is high-agency, much of what the residency becomes will be co-created by the families in it. The intention is that families leave feeling closer than when they arrived.

FAQ

How do I sign up? Apply to Edge City India, now, and be sure to mention your child/children. Once your application is accepted, add your kids tickets to your account. Acceptance is contingent on a Meet & Greet with Edge Tomorrow to confirm family alignment and mutual fit.

Is this a dropoff program? Edge City is an intergenerational village rather than a drop-off childcare service, and that’s a feature. You don’t have to choose between meaningful adult time and your children genuinely belonging in the village. Kids spend studio hours at the hub finding projects, collaborators, and interesting adults, while you or a designated caregiver stay reachable, and families coordinate coverage with one another, which the Family Village makes especially easy. Think of it as a neighborhood full of stimulating adults and inspiring spaces that you, your child, and your newfound parenting village get to explore and create in together, held by a thoughtful set of shared agreements that help every family connect their own needs with the wider community.

What about school? Three weeks at Edge Tomorrow is project-based learning at full intensity. Kids scope, build, test, and present real projects to a real community every week, alongside peers from around the world. We’re also bringing worldschooling thought leaders to the village, so if you’ve been curious about learning beyond the classroom, there’s no better place to see it working.

Will my kid know anyone? They won’t arrive knowing anyone, and neither will most of the kids, which is exactly why they leave with friends from all over the world. The cohort builds together every weekday and the family housing clusters around the hub, so friendships form fast and without a plan.

Where in the village is Edge Tomorrow? The hub sits right beside the main Edge City program space and the family housing cluster, so kids, parents, and programming are all within a few minutes’ walk of each other.

My child is three or under. What’s available? Caregivers and nannies attend free (they register but don’t need a ticket), and we coordinate shared spaces and wonderful local nannies found through our local partners. The Family Village is also a lovely community for parents of little ones, so you’ll have company and support.

Can my child bring friends? Of course! Social connections are a big part of life, and your child is encouraged to invite a friend their age to apply and join them at the residency!
