Why Inflection
The right moment can change the trajectory of meaningful work.
An inflection point is the moment when the right community, support, and early belief can change everything that follows. We look for people whose work feels early, unusual, or hard to place, then give them the time, resources, and community to move it forward.
The Fellowship is organized by Edge City with Long Journey. Proceeds from the $960,000 Sotheby’s auction of Jensen Huang’s donated leather jacket will help fund future Fellowship cohorts and Inflection Grants.
The Fellowship experience
What
Fellows receive a full ride to an Edge City popup village, including travel, housing, and their village ticket. They also get focused time to work, mentorship, and a multidisciplinary community of builders working on hard problems.
Why
We believe that bringing together truly exceptional talent and giving them space, mentorship, and proximity to multidisciplinary peers is enough to catalyze magically weird ideas into real projects. Long-term, fellows tap the Edge and Long Journey networks for funding, collaborators, and the next chapter of their work.
You
Curious, kind, high-agency people who are 25 and under when the village begins and deep in something magically weird: a build, a paper, a practice, a problem space, or the kernel of an idea. Strong proof of work matters more than formal credentials.
WHO
The fellowship is run by Edge City and Long Journey Ventures. Edge City hosts month-long popup villages where people at the frontiers of technology, science, and culture live and work together. Long Journey is an early-stage venture firm whose portfolio includes SpaceX, Notion, DeepMind, and dozens of leading companies.
A successful fellowship creates an inflection in a fellow’s journey: greater clarity, meaningful progress, durable relationships, and a concrete next step.
Past fellows have built assistive robotics, advanced healthcare tools, explored new directions in AI and biotechnology, created art, secured millions in philanthropic support, and started companies.

Who is eligible for the Inflection Fellowship?
Researchers, artists, hobbyists, and builders of any kind who are 25 or younger when their Edge City popup village begins. We look for curious, kind, high-agency people with strong proof of work and an unusual project, problem, or idea they want to move forward. If you have incorporated a company or raised dilutive funding, one of our founder residencies is likely a better fit.
What does the Fellowship cover?
A full ride to an Edge City popup village, including the village ticket, housing, and travel, plus focused time, mentorship, and a cohort embedded in the wider Edge City community.
How is this different from Inflection Grants?
The Fellowship is an immersive, in-person month at an Edge City popup village. Inflection Grants are small grants that help builders 25 and under advance unusual ideas from wherever they are. Explore Inflection Grants.
How is this different from the Long Journey Residency?
The Long Journey Residency is a separate program for early-stage and pre-seed founders building venture-scale companies and planning to raise capital. The Inflection Fellowship is for builders 25 and under across technology, science, art, and other fields; starting a company is one possible outcome, not a requirement. What does a successful fellowship look like?
Success looks different for every fellow. We hope each person leaves with greater clarity, real progress on their work, durable relationships, and a concrete next step. That might mean advancing a project, deepening a field of research, finding collaborators, or changing direction with better information. Starting a company is one possible outcome, not the goal.
